On the Open Water with Oprah

I had the incredible pleasure of being in Oprah’s company during her Gals Getaway last month.  It was an incredible cruise from Fort Lauderdale to the Bahamas… a private island in the Bahamas and days on the Caribbean Seas with Oprah and many inspirational women from around the globe.

Connecting with like-minded women who are truly leaders in their life, and being in the space of true sisterhood, was beyond amazing and filled my soul like nothing else.  Sharing ideas, exchanging thoughts, learning lessons and having lots of laughs has really opened up more opportunities for me in sharing my approach to living vibrantly well, living the holistic lifestyle and sharing wealth strategies in the world.

If you are a thinker-strategist, if you are an entrepreneur, a mom, sister, friend, wife, daughter, or if you work from home, make it a point to join a network and meet other like minded women and men face-to-face.

If you haven’t seen your best friend in a while because you’re working long hours, or just can’t seem to find time no matter how good your intentions are, commit to a time to meet him/her for a walk, breakfast, a meal and chat as soon as you can.

All this to say that while it’s important to grow your business and live your dreams, friendships are equally important to create and maintain.  In fact Social Interaction is one if not the most important requirement for maintaining optimal health and living a long life.

Studies have shown that good friendships:

  • Enhance quality of life
  • Fortify physical and psychological health
  • Increase longevity
  • Strengthen resilience
  • Promote optimism and positive moods
  • Alleviate anxiety, depression, pain
  • Help manage trauma and loss
  • Boost the immune system

So in your plight to live to your fullest potential, don’t forget about human interaction and friendships. Oprah and her BFF Gayle are certain proof that friendships are not only super fun but can make it easier to crank out what the world needs from you.  We all need support from loving friends along the way.
