A Week I Will Never Forget – The Thought Leader Summit in Los Angeles

There are moments and events in life that change you forever. The Thought Leader Summit I attended in Los Angeles was one of them.

Now the Rooftop Reception , the interview with Jack Canfield, and the poolside reception , were all amazing events. Each one touches me in different ways, and when you think what else can there be, the Thought Leader Summit comes up and that blew my mind.

You get to listen to people who are Change Leaders in this world. These are leaders who are on the cutting edge creating new ways of contributing to others in the world and are freely sharing their knowledge and wisdom. These are people with vision who are building new communities and supporting families. These people are so inspiring, they rock !

Have you ever had the experience of being at a conference and the speaker says something that you immediately know is going to take you to the next level? That is what this event was like for me, speaker after speaker. The Summit started in the morning with the first speaker Major Dan Rooney, the founder of Folds of Honour Charity. When he returned home from his second tour of duty from Iraq a pilot flying the F-16 Fighter pilot in the Oklahoma Air National Guard, he became painfully aware of the reality families face and go through when a loved one in uniform has fallen or become disabled, He gave a wonderful speech and shared his heart felt experiences and the charity he created that gives so much back. He was wonderful.

Although there were a number of excellent presenters, the highlight was Jay Abraham. He is a legend and is known for his work in developing strategies in direct response marketing and is the highest paid marketing consultant in the world. He is listed as one of the top five executive coaches in the United States impacting over 10,000 clients and 400 industries worldwide. I was honoured to be one of 120 people to attend the premier of his documentary. This was a formal evening and a red carpet event. The best part was being a part of his live interview where he answered questions from the audience and shared his wisdom. In a word, Unforgettable.

What I came away with is, if you want to be truly successful, you need to be around and learn from other successful people who are truly out there making a difference in the lives of others in the world.

At this point in your life, you may be asking yourself what your true life purpose is. Do you want to be an international influencer like Jay Abraham? That is a question, but that is not the point. The point is to ask yourself, who is further along in their journey than you are, that you can learn from? The wonderful thing is life is a journey and you get to reach out to what that is for you. You get to live into what you want your future to feel like and be like.

You can read other people’s books, attend their conferences and seminars and watch their videos. You can listen to them in your car. You can attend events where they speak. The options are endless, and there is no excuse to not expand your mind. It is all up to you. What do you want your life to look like? What kinds of people do you want to be interacting with?  What kinds of things do you want to be doing?

We all have our own passions and dreams that call to us. It is so inspiring to be in the company of those who are making such a difference in the world. In life we are not meant to do things alone. So often we do things the hard way. We have opportunities to learn from others all the time. Others want to help us and share their wisdom and experience with us.  I find, when we are open and take the time, we can learn from someone who has been living their own life there and can share so many gifts with us that can help us in our own journey.  It is worth it when you reach your goal faster than you ever thought possible.

Resisting change and not putting yourself out there, is living a limiting life.  Never limit yourself. The knowledge and the wisdom is out there; it is your job to notice, accept and absorb it and then take action on it. If you can do these three things, you will be truly successful.
